Best Winter Knits
Knitting is a relaxing hobby. But I for one have never actually knitted anything I would dream of wearing outside the confines of my home. So, I am forced to buy my knits – which is more fun anyway. Knits have been pulled in so many directions this season – if you’ll excuse my little play on words – that it’s hard to tell what will work and what should be avoided. From bulky to sleek, there’s so much to choose from. But never fear, we, the style council can help find the trends that will work for you.
Start at the bottom
Leggings are a trend to be reckoned with. On the high street, you’ll see pairs that just scream evening-out-on-a-budget. And you’ll also see plenty of examples that say stay-at-home-in-front-of-the-telly. Hobb’s has a solution. A pair of leggings that are warm, comfortable and incredibly stylish. These leggings are a nod to the Icelandic jumper trend, but can be teamed successfully with a long jumper and one of the season’s sheepskin jackets.
The middle ground
Most of us need fashion partners we can rely on come hell or high water. A chunky cashmere V-necked jumper is just such a partner. Great worn with a blouse and good on its own with a pair of jeans, you’ll reach for a piece like this at every opportunity. Pair it with some chunky framed prescription glasses for a look that is really in this year.
The tip top
Missoni is a name venerated by the fashion cognoscenti. And with good reason. From colour to material to construction, Missoni knits are simply beautiful and will last a lifetime, if not more. Some of the cardigans from Net -a-Porter would make even the simplest outfit a lasting statement.
So, stay warm this winter – but don’t forget your glasses. You never know when the sun will be shining through!
